About our Members
Our members are relatively affluent, well educated and passionate about expanding their horizons. Typically they are home owners with one or two incomes from professional and executive occupations, small business owners, or self-employed. The average age of our members is between 35 and 60. Often there are children living at home. We are happy to call an adventurous group of retirees busy seeing the world and enjoying the benefits of home exchange our members too.
One critical factor supporting your ease in finding suitable exchanges is the size and the "mix" of a membership database. A good home exchange membership database must be large enough to offer sufficient representation:
- on all continents - for sophisticated travellers
- in many countries - for variety and serendipity
- across age groups - for exchanges all year around

INTERVAC operates by appointing exclusive representatives in various countries. Our organisers are responsible for supporting members in their efforts to find a suitable exchange partner and for promoting the concept of home exchange within their country.
Although INTERVAC organisers use standard procedures for dealing with complaints or passing along member requests, country representations are nationally-owned and operated. The name INTERVAC is made from words international and vacations and is registered as a trademark in most countries where INTERVAC operates. In countries where we are represented we simply call ourselves INTERVAC followed by the country name. For example: we are INTERVAC Austria in Austria and INTERVAC Canada in Canada. Our umbrella organisation - INTERVAC International - is a registered non-profit organisation in Sweden.
